Please note: Because of the specialised nature of all Majacraft products, there will very rarely be stock on hand in South Africa – Wheels take on average 6 months at this stage, and even if we order wheels for stock, they are usually taken by the time the products arrive and passes through Customs in South Africa.
Fibre prep equipment and spinning accessories delays are around 6 weeks.
Majacraft is working on cutting down on the above delays. The following is a message from Majacraft: “We understand that the last couple of years have seen some long delays – mostly with supply issues and also with freight. We released the Luna last year causing a surge of orders, and with some major staff changes we have experienced challenges in keeping up with orders – and they haven’t stopped coming. We are a tiny team of 6 people to make all the products from start to finish, with all parts having a hand-finished portion – even the plastic bobbins. Rest assured we are always working as efficiently as possible and strive to fulfil orders as quickly as we can, while still retaining our high quality standards and hand-built approach to our tools and wheels.”
There are many wheels out there, pre-loved versions, and if you’re lucky to find a good one, antiques in need of some serious attention, but those are usually ridiculously overpriced for the amount of work you’re going to have to put into them to get them working, and then there are what seems affordable entry level wheels in plywood and cheap softwoods, and paying a tad more, you can even get those flatpacks lacquered, not just the raw unfinished planks in a box…
And then there are true collector’s pieces, bound to become heirloom pieces, created from quality solid woods, offering a true Rolls Royce spinning experience, not to mention Lear Jet fast spinning action too. After all, when you pay more for something, there has got to be a good reason for it, not just that silly idiotic childish drive to shop for a
‘name’ without any rhyme or reason, other than being ‘in’ with the crowd!

And just like a Rolls Royce or Bentley, you don’t just pick one off the shelf, you order it and it is made with YOU in mind! Yes, that does mean you have to wait for yours, you won’t have it next week, not even next month – the current waiting period is 4 months, and then it must still be shipped to South Africa AND get through customs, which operates on ‘African-time’…
But the sooner you order, the sooner you will get yours! True quality comes to those who wait! Because your wheel will last a lifetime, in fact, it will outlast you!
Spinning accessories
All Majacraft wheels work great straight out of the box and will do almost everything you can imagine with nothing else needed – barring your imagionation and some fluff to spin.
However, our range of accessories have been designed to help make some of those more complex techniques just a little bit easier. Whether its extra bobbins – you can never have enough! – specialist flyers, pulleys, Lazy Kates, wheel skeiner or a niddy noddy, turkish spindles or just some wax to keep your Majacraft wheel or equipment beautiful, you will find just the accessory you need in our range.
Fibre Preparation
Before you can start spinning your fibre, it needs to be prepared. Majacraft offers various tools to prepare your fibre for spinning or felting, and each of those tools offer an awesome experience in itself.
The amazing Fusion Engine drum carder with it’s exchangeable TPI drums to facilitate any kind of fibre, has got to be the ultimate and truly indispensable choice for fibre preparation.
The MajaCraft combs, hand carders, hackles, diz, and blending board all have unique features that help them stand apart and perform splendidly, and each of them are indispensable in a Spinner/fibre crafter’s life! In fact, it was my world-wide search for a pair of hand combs and the indifference of numerous manufacturers that eventually led me to Majacraft, and the rest is history!
Majacraft Drumcarders
Besides a spinning wheel and a basket full of combs, carders and a hackle, and shelves filled with bobbins and fibre of course, the next major piece of equipment no decent fibrecrafter can manage without is a decent drum carder, or ‘Fusion Engine’ as Majacraft calls their little Magician. Truly a must have, and you don’t need three carders for all the different fibre microns, the drums are interchangeable!
