Majacraft Lazy Kates
Majacraft Lazy Kates are available in two styles: tensioned and untensioned travel kate. Handcrafted from New Zealand Rimu wood, the tensioned kates feature components similar to the scotch tension systems, making them user-friendly. The folding feet enable convenient storage while maintaining their smoothness and stability over time. Laser engraved with the Majacraft logo, each lazy kate incorporates a polymer bearing to ensure precise friction control on the tension knob, allowing for consistent tension adjustment and enhanced bobbin control. This allows for more consistent tension adjustment and better control of the tension on your bobbins.
If you have ever tried plying with a box and dowels, or any of the makeshift ideas we have all tried before, trying to save some money, or just purely because we haven’t gotten around to get a decent Kate yet, you will know how frustrating it can be when your bobbins develop a speed of their own, and start gobbling up their neighbours, leaving you sweating and swearing! You then have to get up behind the wheel, somehow letting go of your carefully clasped strands of yarns in a controlled and responsible way, to go and undo the mess, but preventing the twist from going in all the wrong direction, thus ruining your hard work!
So believe me, these Lazy Kates should actually be called indispensible Anti-Calamity Kates!
Universal Tensioned Lazy Kate
The Majacraft Universal tensioned lazy kate can fit any of our bobbin range (excluding the overdrive bobbins). The primary purpose is to allow the plying of yarns on jumbo bobbins which can be useful for art yarns. Of course it still accomodates the lace and standard sized bobbins as well.
Overdrive Tensioned
The Overdrive tensioned lazy kate is the same size as the Unviersal lazy kate. However, it holds two of the huge Overdrive bobbins. Another unique feature of the Overdrive lazy kate is the use of sliding flyer hooks as yarn guides, this lets you position the guides in the optimum position for easy drawing of the yarn from the lazy kate.
The Overdrive and Universal Lazy Kates are not compatible due to the different axle size.
Travel Kate
The Majacraft travelling lazy kate is great if you want to spin on the move. It holds two bobbins up to the Jumbo size. The bobbin bars will slide out so the lazy kate will pack down very small. It is included free with a Little Gem or is available individually.
